Sea dog

Sea dog

Image 6

I was planning on doing some more work on my painting of this beautiful black sea dog whose hair– I was told — only curls when she’s wet.  The water really was that blue that day.

It was still fairly chunky and I thought I’d go back and refine but my daughter kept making noises about not changing anything and I finally got the translation that she was telling me she liked it!  Would she like it in her room?  Well yes she would.

Pause.  Warm glow.  Savour.

This black sea dog made me happy.

I am so glad you listened to your daughter, this is great the way it is. The movement in the water is mesmerizing. It has the feel of a Van Gough to it, the swirling paint gives life to the whole painting. Lucky daughter. karen

Thank you so much for that Karen. I think I may have a black dog thing. Was scouting one out at the beach yesterday. Thank you for the lovely comments!

Jennifer, I think this is your best yet/ Wow. You have a way of capturing fur in a most beautiful way. Really natural and lovely. I wish I could see this in person to really get a good look. Also, your water is best I have seen. You are growing by leaps and bounds and it is very exciting to watch. I hope all is well with the clan. Miss you!

Hello you. I think that’s you. Why so anonymous?? 🙂 Thanks for the nice words. This was such a fabulous dog. Just a beautiful quiet way about her. My head and phone are crammed full of images from the beach this summer. Miss you too. Email coming your way this weekend.

Also, you capture proportions in animal and human figures very well!!! I wish I had that skill!

And I wish I could let it go and happen like you! I grid it all out because I’m so uptight about it all.
