Just a start

Just a start

bri

Ok just barely started, long way to go, but is this ever fun.

I’m trying to decide how to do the window behind.  In the original photo it was a sunny summer day out there, with beach towels reflected hanging over the edge of the porch.  Is it cheating if I just say it’s night now?

This is my eldest but the other night when I was working on it and had just started roughing it in — was desperately trying to not let myself be intimidated by the fact that it’s a person and then a FACE… a face of someone I know and love — it slowly started to change to look more like my other son.  Who I also love to bits.  Right now it’s a real mix of the two.  It really made me stop and think about their features in a detail I hadn’t before, even though  I know those faces like the back of my hand.

But you know what?  I didn’t have to confess that.  I could have said it was spot on and I’m a genius.

Rats.

I’m anxious to get back and try to see if I can figure out how to bring it back to the right kid.  And I’m feeling like quite a brave girl for taking a stab at a portrait!

This is so real, you think someone sits there! The expression ist good, a great blend of the beloved ones. Do you have any paintings of books or paintings with books in them? I’m sure the bookfyaries’d love to use a painting from you as an illustration for a bookstory and link your beautiful blog.
Have a great day, take care.
    Love

Thanks Dina. That’s so kind. I’d love to give that a try!
Thank you so much for all your kind words. Painting is such an up and down thing!

      He’s all right. 🙂

They’re both stunners, but I may be biased.
      Thanks for the encouragement!
